Alex Kajumulo(Picha na Maktaba)
Dear fellow Tanzanians,
I have decided to run for President of the Tanzanian Football
Federation. I believe I am qualified for this position because of all
that I have done for football in Tanzania. My club, Kajumulo F.C., was
the first Tanzanian football club to be fully professional and pay
players salary. This led the way for a truly professional football
league in Tanzania. In addition to supporting my own professional team,
I also invested my time and money to improve other teams in the TFF.
Some examples are:
I paid for the entire YANGA team to
compete in the East and Central Cup in Uganda, including all of their
training and travel expenses. That year they brought home the Champion
Cup.
I also paid expenses and allowance for the full Tanzania National Team to go to Ghana to play in the African Cup.
I also sent the entire Kajumulo F.C. team to go to Brazil to train
at the Brazilian Football Academy. This was the first time any team
from Tanzania had trained in Brazil.
I brought Pondamali and Dr.
Kalimba to the U.S. to receive additional training. Pondamali for
goalkeeper coaching and Dr. Kalimba for physical therapy.
I sponsored Jamhuri for two seperate visits to Brazil for further coaches training.
I paid all expenses for the Tanzania Stars to go to Uganda for the East and Central qualifiers in a different year.
I brought Salvatore and Nteze John and Kalimangonga Ongalla and
John Mwasasu to the U.S. to train with me personally to prepare them to
further their professional careers. Kalimangonga went on to train with
Bradford city in the English league and then to play professional in
Sweden before returning to Tanzania. He also played in a Jamaican first
division team, the first Tanzanian to ever do that. John Mwansasu was
the first Tanzanian to play in the Second division in Switzerland after
training with me. I traveled to Switzerland to negotiate for Njhole to
play in the Swiss second division as well.
Right now in
Tanzanian soccer, the most successful coaches are former players that I
took to Brazil for training in order to obtain their coaching
certificates. Those certificates were arranged and paid for by me
because of my dedication to improving Tanzanian soccer. At that time,
Tanzania was ranked by FIFA at #83 when there was only me helping to
promote and improve Tanzanian soccer. The sad thing is that right now
Tanzania has spent 3 billion Tsch. will all those sponsors and the full
support of the government and the President who loves soccer and now we
are ranked #119. I think it is time for change. We need to focus on
bringing up the youth of Tanzania in the sport that they love, so that
they will have something to cheer for. I am saddened when I see the
Tanzanian youth cheering overseas teams and wearing fan gear from
foreign clubs. We need to make them proud of Tanzanian soccer again. I
want all the young people of Tanzania to rise up and support me to be
President of TFF so that I can make you proud of Tanzanian soccer
