The Principal Judge of the High Court Judge Fakihi Jundu has cited incomplete investigations and shortage of personnel as the source of delayed justice with suspects staying in custody for a long time.
Judge Jundu said this over the weekend during the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Open University of Tanzania (OUT) where he was the guest of honour.
The Judge also cautioned the public against referring to the people facing various charges in courts as criminals or killers before they are proven guilty.
He said this after being asked to comment on the trend of the public referring to suspects of various crimes as criminals or killers prior to proven guilty of such crimes.
He said as a Judge he would never refer to people facing charges as killers or thieves before they are convicted of such crimes by the court.
The OUT Vice Chancellor Professor Tolley Mbwette called for a thorough quality analysis of the university in terms of the teaching staff, facilities and education for the benefit of the students and the nation at large.
Prof Mbwette said in many incidents students graduating in some universities are considered incapable when compared to students graduating in well credited universities, hence he did not want OUT graduates to appear shallow in their respective fields.
